Dr. Denis Nam, MD

There's a reason you have to wait a long time to get in to see Dr. Nam. His five star rating should say it all. I think I waited seven months for my first appointment. There really wasn't much he needed to do except get me scheduled for surgery. By the time I saw this doctor it was past time for a knee replacement. I chose Dr Nam because of his experience and I was able to get the procedure done in Chicago. My surgery went very well it didn't take long to start walking without assistance. I never experienced any significant pain. I found his follow-up text messages motivational and encouraging. They also answer some concerns that come up. His staff is available for questions that the text doesn't address. His nurse, Catherine, is so very professional and ready to help. She promptly returns calls and is just absolutely great. I can't recommend Dr Nam and his team more. I even scheduled my other replacement at my follow-up appointment. You may have to wait a while for that… first appointment, but you won't regret it.

On February 6, Dr Nam performed a total knee replacement on my right knee. Post surgery I was up on my feet and walking, assisted to the restroom. I spent the night in the hospital and was cared for a wonderful nursing staff in the orthopedic wing of the hospital. Early the next day, an orthopedic surgeon visited me and we talked for about 20 minutes and he checked my post surgical condition. Later a hospital internal medicine doctor again visiting me we talked about my general health and he checked my vitals along with my post surgical leg again after spending 20 minutes with me he he left. I had my three week visit with Dr Nam yesterday and met with his nurse who I had the pleasure of talking with before my surgery and then several times after surgery. Dr Nam‘s surgical staff are medical professionals who the highest standard of care to the patient by the way six years ago had a partial knee replacement by Dr Nam find him to be an outstanding physician and a very warm and kind… person.

Dr. Nam did TKR for me in Dec 2025. His support staff, the surgical center ( Lincoln Park, Chicago) and the post surgical follow up were excellent. His nurse called me to check in the day after surgery and gave me confidence to call back any time I had concerns or questions. He sent an excellent physical therapist to my home the day after surgery. A unique aspect of Dr. Nam’s post surgical care was frequent text messages with information to assure me that what I was experiencing was normal and expected. ( and if not, exactly what to do) There were helpful tips for recovery, reminders regarding medications, videos to help with rehab exercises and links to additional information if I wanted it. I felt very connected and cared for throughout the critical weeks post surgery. At 6 weeks post (outpatient) surgery I am walking around without a cane and without pain and getting stronger every day.

Dr. Nam and his staff provided world- class treatment to me with my hip replacement. His staff immediately addressed my questions as they arose. His office was well- run and efficient. Dr. Nam was highly-skilled, friendly and professional. I had great confidence in him. I found the frequent emails as I recovered to be very supportive and encouraging!

Dr. Nam is a very good surgeon. I’m at six weeks after my knee replacement. I appreciate the follow up texts but I would have liked more than one follow up visit with the doctor. My knee is still hurting and I do all my therapy and home exercises. My knee also clicks and pops every time I move my leg. I’m told it will go away or get better but will it? I would like to review Dr. Nam in four months or so to see if the surgery was really worth it. Six weeks is too early to tell if it has improved my ability to walk without pain.

Dr. Nam and his staff have been so understanding and helpful through this whole procedure. I’ve had to call and speak with the nurse several times with questions and she has been absolutely wonderful. I even slid on the stairs and cost myself a soft tissue injury and they have been very cautious and careful with making sure that I heal properly thoroughly before we proceed in my physical therapy.

I am so impressed with Dr. Nam and the entire staff I interacted with during the visit. I did not have to wait for even 5 minutes in getting X- rays of both legs, an exam by Dr. Nam who did my left knee replacement 5 years ago; this visit was for the right knee. As busy as Dr. Nam must be, he took the time to examine me carefully and explained me all the options. He also explained how the surgical techniques have evolved since my left knee surgery in 2020. Dr. Nam’s surgical Fellow gave me shot that brought instant relief to get past my travels through April 2026 and I got a date of my choice for the surgery. I am lucky that all my doctors at Rush have been first class in their caring and reassuring demeanor?? I will recommend Dr. Nam for all my friends and family who need a knee surgery. He is the BEST!

Dr. Nam was personal, professional and attentive to all questions and concerns from our first visit. A logical surgery schedule was prepared and delivered by his awesome team of professionals - each person on Dr. Nam was sensational. The surgery itself and the detailed plan pre and post surgery were second to none. Dr. Nam is a class individual and surgeon. Finally, the attention to all details from his staff made the surgery experience understandable, and you felt the caring from Dr. Nam and his staff. Great…pain very limited, so proud of how small a scar, hoping Dr Namm will sign it. Loved the texts to kick me in the tail when needed and encourage me from time to time. I have had both knees replaced by Dr. Nam within 6 months of each other. Never would I have agreed to a surgery that soon had I not had the best overall experience. Dr. Nam and staff are simply the best. I couldn’t ask for a nicer surgeon who listens and answers every crazy question. The after care complete with details was a huge help. I highly recommend him as a surgeon. Week 3 post op!
