When I first met Dr. Hammel over six years ago, I was a fractured person due to decades of trauma. I had been to countless therapists throughout my life who left me feeling like there was no hope for me. Dr. Hammel handled me with the utmost care, respect, and empathy. He helped bring all of the pieces of me together to be whole again. Without him, I would not be the mother, wife, and person I am today. This ripple effect has healed relationships and strengthened bonds throughout my life. He influenced not only me but all of those around me. As I’m reading through these reviews, I see myself. He was truly a gift to those of us afflicted with complex PTSD and a wide spectrum of debilitating disorders. Do not be influenced by one bad review that speaks volumes about the author. I started working with Dr Hammel over 8 years ago in January 2017. I have no words to describe how entirely Dr Hammel changed my life. He helped me through a divorce, he helped me get sober from alcohol (over 6 years sober now), he helped me with the death of a parent. And he helped me with little things every single week, for 75 minutes, helping to make me a stronger person. "I radically accept that I am feeling anxious, and I will now [do what is frightening me]." I have generalized anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, avoidant personality disorder, and a past history of bipolar II. Like the previous reviewer said, I too was broken when I first walked into his office. And when I last met with him (the day before his death), I was whole. Ignore the one negative comment. I am a woman. I only experienced an incredible amount of respect from Dr Hammel. One of the most empathetic individuals that I have ever known. I am devasted. I am crying. But, you know what? He might be the most empathic doctor I have ever met. Professional and always puts me at ease. Changed my life. Might have even saved it.

Dr Hammel has always been a terrific psychiatrist for my husband and I and saved our marriage. He is compassionate and very funny. We always enjoy our sessions with him.

He is professional, empathic, and detail-oriented. My wife and I have improved a lot under his care.

There are a lot of things I like about Dr. Hammel, but most of all is how he is both caring and humorous.

I have ADHD and PTSD and Dr. Hammel has been awesome for me. He is warm and empathic, and easy to speak with.
