He used my mother as a Guinea pig to try a new Hep C treatment. She would have survived had she had a transplant BEFORE the treatments. Every other gastro doctor in the country knew a patient needed 15% functioning liver before the treatment, my mother was less than 5% (according to Matter) but he encouraged her to start treatment anyway. The treatments did work but destroyed what was left of her liver. When she started getting sick as a result, we asked for her to be transferred to University of Chicago. He told us they wouldn’t take her so she suffered several more days in BroMenn ER at his hands. Finally we called the U of Chicago ourselves, it turned out that he lied, they said they would definitely take her and didn’t know why he would refuse. But by that time, it was too late. She died shortly after getting there.
